Save Everywhere with New Compact Florescents
	Replacing regular incandescent light bulbs in your lamps and ceiling fixtures can really add up! In addition, new compact florescent lights last far longer than incandescent bulbs. It's a win-win situation. Look at the savings detailed at EnergyStar.gov. Energy Star qualified CFLs use only 1/3 of the energy of a standard incandescent bulbs to provide the same amount of light, and last up to 10 times longer. This means that a single bulb will save $30 or more in energy costs over its lifetime. They also generate 70 percent less heat than comparable incandescents, so they're safer to operate and can cut energy costs associated with home cooling. Compact florescents do contain trace amounts of environment damaging mercury, and must be disposed of properly.

The Next Bright Idea: LED Lights
	Compact florescents are great, and much more efficient than a incandescent bulbs, but there's something even better on the horizon: LED lights. In fact, you have probably already seen traffic lights that use high-lumen Light Emitting Diodes, which consume a tenth of the electricity of an incandescent bulb with a red filter. Because diodes are solid, rather than gas-filled tubes, LEDs are much more resistant to shock and wear, lasting more than a hundred times longer than the conventional incandescent bulb, and up to five times longer than a compact florescent. And while compact florescents contain trace amounts of environment-damaging mercury, LED lights so they are the way . Unfortunately, LED lights are not yet produced in sufficient quantities to be inexpensive. But as the virtues of these cool and efficient bulbs become better known, prices will continue to drop. Commercial Sites Can Save, Too
Electrical bills and energy consumption can be reduced, too, in commercial settings. Whether you operate a retail shop, a workshop, a service business or an industrial facility, you only need to convert the ballasts and bulbs on your commercial florescent lights to have two-stage lighting. Then you can use a lower level when that's suitable, and the full level lighting only part of the time. Motion sensors can also help by turning lights on and off automatically. When someone ventures into a remote part of the shop or inventory warehouse, the lights will go on, and you don't have to worry about them being left on indefinitely. Then will turn off automatically when the motion in the area stops. This is particularly useful for high cost outdoor lighting.
